Lagos is a wonderful holiday destination in the Algarve. It is about 50 minutes drive to the West of Faro Airport and attracts all age groups, due to its diversity of offerings in Lagos. the is full of historical interest dating as far back as 2000 years BC when it was known as Lacobriga. The older part of Lagos is still circled by 16th century city walls. Lagos town centre is full of history, but also a vibrant town, with lots going on. The many squares of Lagos are often full of people enjoying the entertainment, the bars and restaurants. There are loads of bars in Lagos and many stay open long into the early hours and in the summer time the centre of town is alive with people of all ages.
If you walk along the waterfront from the main town you come to a very modern marina. There is a footbridge over the river to the marina from which you do get a lovely view of the town and the 'boats' in the marina. The has a variety of shops, bars and restaurants to enjoy, and there is usually music in the bars and from here you can go on many day trips along the Algarve Coast.
There is a daily fish market where fresh fish and seafood is sold on the ground floor with a first floor fruit and veg market. The second floor has a restaurant and a fantastic view across the bay.
