ALVOR
The picturesque fishing village of Alvor is an ideal holiday resort for people who want to see the traditional Algarve. The town is situated in the West Algarve and is just beautiful with a rich history dating back to pre-Roman times. It's fate changed hands many times over the centuries until finally being secured by Christians in the 13th century.
Today Alvor is renowned for it's superb beaches, either long and sandy or divided by enchanting coves and fascinating rock formations. Alvor remains a working fishing community with a fish market and myriad of narrow shopping streets centred around its 16th century Church. The Algarve village also has a popular market every 2nd Tuesday of the month and in the summers many Holiday makers visit to buy their souvenirs.
By day and night, its colourful cafes and bars play music and create a warm and friendly atmosphere - its the perfect destination for couples and families alike - Alvor also boasts some of the regions finest
restaurants with a wide selection of local seafood and produce in the heart of the village and right down to the water's edge. Alvor also has some outstanding sports facilities which include golf, tennis, horseriding and a host of water sports and excursions. Close by there is the popular resort of Praia da Rocha which offers a more lively and franetic pace to your holiday if required.
